Centre for Ethical Rebirth Among Nigerian Youths (CERANY) is a 20-year old duly registered, voluntary, non-poli cal and not-for-profit youth organiza on ac vely involved in the fight against drug abuse. CERANY is accredited by Na onal Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), registered with Federal Ministry of Finance Budget and Na onal Planning with an -money laundry cer fica on from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
CERANY notes with concern President Muhammadu Buhari's public acknowledgement that drug abuse indeed fuels insurgency – a fact which the NDLEA a ests to. It is Equally distressing to hear the recent asser on by the President of the Senate that proceeds from drug trafficking could be “funding terrorism and banditry” in Nigeria. In addi on, the glaring adverse effects of the menace of drug abuse on the physical and mental wellbeing of our ci zens, par cularly the youth also call for concern.
It is against this worrisome background that CERANY in collabora on with the NDLEA and support from United Na ons Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), is pleased to present the Maj-Gen IBM Haruna Na onwide Campaign Against Drug Abuse and Insecurity.
This effort is in furtherance of the unwavering commitment of CERANY to the fight against the twin scourge of Drug Abuse and Insecurity in our dear na on, and desire to take our support for government and interna onal partners a notch higher for the overall benefit of a healthier, safer and stronger Nigeria.
This ini a ve is in line with the laudable objec ves of 2015-2019 Na onal Drug Control Master Plan, designed essen ally to further the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) being waged by the administra on.
CERANY therefore wishes to invite all well-meaning Nigerians and friends of Nigeria to support this Na onwide Campaign designed to secure to buy-in of Nigerian youths and ul mately get them to take ownership of the fight against drug abuse and insecurity in their enlightened self-interest and that of posterity.
