LEADERSHIP

CERANY has a leadership structure that comprises key organs of the Centre namely: Board of Trustees (BoT); National Delegates Conference; National Executive Council; National Working Committee; and State Chapters. The day-to-day activities of the Secretariat is directed by the Secretary General of the Campaign whilst the President is the Chief Executive Officer of CERANY.

THE PRESIDENT: A PROFILE

Chuks Chizaramoku Akamadu was born on September 8, 1976 and hails from Ohuhu in Umuahia North Local Government Council of Abia State. His attended  Orieamaenyi Central School Umuahia, from where he proceeded to Government Secondary School Owerri, Imo State and completed his secondary education at Government Secondary School Yashikira in Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State in 1996.

mr chucks akamaduHe studied law at University of Lagos and was duly called to the Nigerian Bar in 2004. He did his postgraduate studies at National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR) where he obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Tourism Management, and International Management Institute (IMI), New Delhi where he studied Corporate Governance and Excellence in Management of Public Enterprises.

Mr. Akamadu is chartered in both management and public relations. In addition, he is among others: Member, Institute of Directors (IoD) Nigeria; Member, Nigerian Institute of Management; Member, Institute of Tourism Professionals, and Member, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.

His working experience includes serving at various times as Head of Media and Publicity and Secretary General of Performing Musicians’ Employers Association of Nigeria (PMAN) respectively. He was appointed Managing Director of Afrocultour Limited in 2008 where he midwifed the annual Songs of Nigeria Festival (SONIFES) and Nigeria Entertainment and Economic Roundtable, both of which are endorsed by as well as enjoy the partnership of Federal Ministry of Information and Culture and Ministry of Budget and National Planning.

Mr. Akamadu served the nation as Member, National Mirror Committee on Social Responsibility Standards in 2005 and was also appointed, in 2012, as the only private sector- Member of the 19-man Presidential Committee on Nigeria Centenary Celebrations. He is currently a Member of the Local Organizing Committee of National Industrialization Summit.

Rather more importantly, Mr. Akamadu is the Founder and President of Centre for Ethical Rebirth Among Nigerian Youths (CERANY) - a 19 year-old duly registered, voluntary, non-political and not-for-profit youth organization actively involved in the fight against drug abuse.

CERANY, under Mr. Akamadu’s leadership, has traversed the length and breadth of the country, giving secondary school students free anti-drug abuse counseling and participating in orientation programmes of tertiary institutions where freshmen/women are sensitized on the dangers of drug abuse.

Mr. Akamadu is also the convener, under the auspices of CERANY, of the annual National Youth Conference on Drug Abuse which draws participants from all parts of the country, the last of which held on June 22, 2021 at Abuja, with key relevant stakeholders duly represented.

Mr. Akamadu’s, a worthy mentor and role model to millions of Nigerian youths, is easily the loudest non-state actor voice in the renewed fight against drug abuse in Nigeria today – a self-imposed task he sacrificially executes with rare passion and uncommon patriotism. He has, through the CERANY platform, demonstrated exemplary love for fatherland, unquenchable thirst for selfless service, profuse hard-work, unrivaled impact and sterling accomplishments in the fight against drug abuse for over twenty unbroken years.

Mr. Akamadu is happily married.
